Supervisors stress that staff visualize and follow every rule, regulation and order necessary for the safe conduct of work, and require they take action needed to secure compliance. Employees will submit to the company safety protocol by following all safety rules, telling management about unsafe situations and recommending actions to improve the effectiveness of the CSI Safety Program. The Green Seal Standard for Commercial and Institutional Cleaning Services GS-42, establishes environmental requirements for cleaning up service providers of commercial, public, and institutional buildings, consisting of in-house and external cleaning services, to create a green cleansing program that secures human health and the environment. The basic takes a systems approach with cleansing. Guidance is provided for tools and items used for cleaning (what is used for cleansing) and includes staff training and preparation (how cleaning is done). The requirement also consists of emphasis on ecological improvements that decrease toxicity, waste, and direct exposure to both building residents and custodial personnel. The standard can act as a tool to assist companies start to do something about it to improve their cleaning company and is readily available for Green Seal accreditation.
